Welcome to the online home for the Manitoba Independent Songwriters' Circle!

IMPORTANT REMINDER! Song circles are no longer held at Manitoba Music offices.

    • PUT THIS ON YOUR CALENDAR!!... The next circle will be on TUESDAY, August 3, 2010.... Please note the change of day!

Hi there all MISC folks and guests!! We NEED you're help!! We're going to test-drive a potential new downtown location for our monthly circles. We really NEED your input and comments about it, so please try to make it out on TUESDAY, AUGUST 3. Even if you don't have a song this time around, please come check out this place with us!

Some of you may already be familiar with AQUA BOOKS/EAT! Bistro on Garry Street. Many people are saying good things about it! EAT! Bistro serves great food and many, many other cultural/arts events go on there all the time.

Unfortunately, Monday's are not available, so we would have to look at changing our regular night, and we will need to be wrapped up by 9 PM when they close. But before we would decide to make any changes, we want to know from you that that would work and that you feel this location is worth the change!

We'll be starting promptly at 7 PM and will be done by 9 PM. Even if you know you'll be arriving late, please do still come! We need you to check out and experience this place to give us feedback and help in the decision making!

Hoping to see you there! Please remember to bring the usual eight to ten copies of your song lyrics and a pen.

Here's the address info and website to check out....

    • SOME GREAT NEWS FOR THE FALL...!!
We are thrilled to announce that MISC and The Winnipeg Folk Festival are partnering to present NIGHTS OF ORIGINAL MUSIC every 2 months starting in September at THE FOLK EXCHANGE (211 Bannatyne)
We`ll put out a call to MISC Members for performers closer to the date, but put September 2, 2010 on your calendar already, and start preparing to be part of this great night! Other dates to keep open will be November 4, 2010, January 6, 2011, March 3, 2011 and May 5, 2011!!

And in the spirit of promoting and encouraging the community of songwriting, each Performance Evening will end with an open mic, open to the public to present their ORIGINAL SONGS! This is a welcoming and intimate venue to be close to and connect with your audience! Be sure to invite out family and friends - they'll enjoy themselves!
