June 21... Last night was a GREAT vocal workshop with Lois Gillespie! We huffed and puffed and deep-breathed our way to better vocal
technique and we laughed at ourselves and applauded for each other!! SO MANY things to work on!! Good thing there's no time limit!
We can take those lessons and work on them one at a time forever! We left so encouraged and wowed at what a difference a simple change can make!!
We plan to arrange other equally helpful workshops!

June 7... WOW! A FULL house of creative and inspired song writers filled the Manitoba Music
offices for MISC's final song circle at that location! We were very happy to welcome back several
MISC family faces, as well as introduce ourselves to new guests! Great songs in all stages of
development were shared and everyone left with positive encouraging feedback and ideas to take home!
It was a super night!
Our next Song Circle is on July 5, 2010 at a location to be advised.

May 29... The HOUSE CONCERT hosted by Sean and Natasha had the whole street rocking!! Even the
downpour couldn't dampen the fun and the house was FULL! SUPER GIANT THANKS to Sean and Natasha for
their generous hospitality that made us all feel so welcome! It was a really great and memorable
evening - as always Sean was an excellent host and all the performers put their best out there and
the audience was not disappointed!! Thanks to everyone who helped in any and every way!
It was so fun it makes me wonder why we don't do that far more often!
If you think you'd like to host a fun and friendly house concert, too, please just let me know!
We'll talk!! We'd love to bring our MISC show to your neighbourhood!
May 7... The Folk Exchange was friendly and full... an eager audience was generous in their
enthusiasm and applause for the deserving MISC performers at our first event with The Winnipeg
Folk Festival! Our talented "VP in charge of FUN", Wendy Burdon, hosted the evening and led
the great line up of Dan Silas, Monika Loewen Wall, James Penny, Scott McPherson, Tim Braun
and Marcel Desilets! Each one represented MISC with such passion and excellence and left everyone
wanting more! Comments on the evening include... "One audience member in town from Brochet Manitoba commented that he
was "blown away" with the entertainment. He will promote MISC in the northern communities!"
"It was good to be involved in so much fun together!”
May 3... The Manitoba Music offices were busy with two music-filled circles going on!
It was great to see all the familiar friendly faces and to welcome several talented guests!
The big buzz was about the coming Performance Night on Friday, May 7, The Folk Exchange, 211 Bannatyne,
7:30 PM!! Plan to come! You won`t want to miss it!

April 5... As always, the night was filled with amazing creative music, helpful feedback and lots
of laughter! We're busy with plans for some exciting workshops and performance opportunities, so

March 1... After taking in the recent David Francey songwriting workshop and concert,
many writers were inspired to apply some of his amazing and generously shared insight -
the result was some truly inspired songs! And don't hesitate to bring those songs-in-progress
to a circle for help! It's what the circles are for. The ones presented that night received
encouraging feedback and constructive ideas for further developing!

February 1... The Annual General Meeting was well attended and great discussions and ideas
were flying! All of MISC sends a grand applause and deepest appreciation to Scott McPherson,
Pat Sinnott and Jim Waterous who stepped down from the Executive at this time! A new slate of
Executive was appointed - Wendy Burdon, Karen Hammerstrand, Harvey Levy, Stewart McEwen and Karen
Vandermeulen look forward to working with you for a great year ahead. You'll hear more about
the exciting plans and ideas in the works.

January 4... The brand new year saw a circle filled with wonderful new songs and exceptional
feedback! The helpful insight and suggestions gave each writer some great ideas to take home!
Since February 1 will be our Members-only Annual General Meeting instead of a song circle,
we look forward to having you join us at our next Song Circle on March 1, 2010!

December 7... Even the sudden cold weather didn't stop our Festive Song Circles!
Some brand new Christmas songs made their debut there, and we had the pleasure of
catching up with some familiar faces. After the circle, we took over the Yellow
Dog next door and celebrated the Season with good friends and great music!
Guitars and mandolin were passed around the tables making amazing music in each pair of hands!
Familiar sing-along songs filled the place with voices and laughter! Some folks even left
with prizes! It was a perfect way to end the last Song Circle of 2009!
If you weren't able to join us, we MISC'rs wish you and your families all the very best in
this special Season and for the New Year to come. With all the hurriedness, make time to capture
those pure and simple moments - the ones that take your breath away! They're around every
corner, if you're watching and listening. And they inspire the most true and wonderful songs!

October 5... A BIG circle welcomed folks back from their summer adventures! It was great to see familiar faces and to welcome several guests!
Lots of laughter mixed with some poignant moving moments as writers shared their hearts - all made for some great critiquing and
encouragement!

MANITOBA IS FULL OF MUSIC!
Around every corner and in every community in the province, there are new opportunities to enjoy great music
no matter which side of the guitar you are on! Enjoy the festivals, concerts, open mics and spontaneous outbreak
of song all summer long! Hey! That rhymes! Might be a song in there somewhere!
Watch here for details as we work to organize some great coming events and.... remember our
song circles! PLEASE make note that the August and September circles are moved from the first Monday
of the month to the second Monday to accommodate those 2 long weekends!

June 1... Not rain nor hail nor wind nor.... road construction shall keep us away... ! It took a
couple turns around the block for parking, but it was SO well worth it!! We kicked back on the
couches and had a sweet intimate circle night - terrific new music, great encouragement and lots
of laughs! We even had the surprise pleasure of welcoming back David Neitzke, and hope to be
hearing much more of his talented songwriting!
As you plan your family summer celebrating, watch for those special moments that inspire and move
your heart! There are amazing songs to be discovered and unlocked in those moments! Next Song

March 16... The Song Structure Workshop led by award winning singer/songwriter and MISC Member,
Chris Freeman is still being raved about! So well prepared and so well presented, Chris had
everyone participating and having a great time! We listened to huge hit songs as examples to
help us learn to identify the various song structures used - and to see when and how breaking
"the rules" can be a very effective item in our songwriting tool box! So well done Chris!
We're all looking forward to having you lead another workshop soon!

March 2... saw a great night of 2 exciting circles going on at the Manitoba Music Resource Centre!!!
The fun and feedback from everyone was so helpful it made for an amazing opportunity to grow and
develop these songs and ones still to come into even stronger pieces!

February 2... MISC Members met for the Annual General Meeting setting MISC off on a new year
with great plans and ideas to help grow in our songwriting and kick it up to that next level!
We enjoyed an evening of great Member input and discussion, spirited lively music and great
food!

January 5... WOW! What a hot way to start 2009 off! An excited group of inspired songwriters
braved the cold to come connect with the passion and encouragement of a song circle!
Strong and powerful songs together with helpful and constructive feedback came from everyone -
familiar friends and new faces alike.
Please note that there will NOT be a song circle on February 2! Instead, MISC Members will be
coming together for the important MISC Annual General Meeting.
The next song circle will be March 2.
